Situation Vacant – Assistant Cattle Stockperson

Assistant Cattle Stockperson

The Estate has a recently established herd of pedigree Hereford Cattle, which currently numbers approximately 150 head. Continued expansion means that we are now seeking an enthusiastic assistant stockperson to join our staff.

The successful applicant will be expected to assist with all aspects of suckler cow husbandry, from calving through to finishing. They will assist with the day to day running of the herd as well as management of the land. They will have experience in the operation of tractors and telehandlers.

The Herd uses a variety of progressive breeding techniques including AI and ET, is HiHealth accredited, and is taking animals to an increasing number of shows. The first phase of a new livestock unit has just been completed, with first class housing, handling and calving facilities.

We are open minded about the level of experience we are looking for in candidates. Enthusiasm and a strong work ethic are more important than an extensive employment history. We are also open to applications from candidates who are enrolled, or wish to enrol upon an agricultural apprenticeship or other work based educational program.

A cheerful, outgoing personality and an eye for detail are prerequisites together with strong organisational ability. Exceptional references will be required and will be rigorously followed up.

Remuneration will be competitive and dependent on experience. Suitable accommodation will be made available on the Estate, if required, to enable the proper performance of the duties, on terms to be agreed.

This position will offer the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to take up a position in a well set up enterprise, and to join a progressive Estate farming operation in a beautiful part of the country.

Applicants should submit a CV and covering letter to:
